I
James Reece Sr of Todd County and state of Kentucky (formerly of
Humphreys County and state of Tennessee) do hereby make my last will and
testament in manner and form following (to wit)
1 I have given to my son Thomas G Reece one horse one bed & furniture and one cow and calf which he is to keep2 I have given to my son Charles W Reece one horse and bed and bed and furniture and one cow and calf which he is to keep
3 I have given to my son James Reece one horse which he is to keep.
4 I have given to Isaac Reece my son one horse one cow and calf and one bed and furniture which he is to keep.
5 I have given to my son Jesse H Reece one horse which he is to keep6th I have given to my son Litte berry Reece one horse which he is to keep7 I have given to my daughter Rebecca Dunnington one bed and furniture which she is to keep
8 I have given to my daughter Jemima Owens one cow & calf & one bed and furniture which she is to keep9th
my death I give to my wife Feriba all of my property of every
description together with money and Notes that I may have during her
natural life and at her death to be equally divided among all my
children after paying my just debts and funeral expenses and after
making all of my children who have not recieved a horse cow & calf
& bed and furniture equal with those who have recieved a horse cow
& calf and bed & furniture. 10th If their should be no horses
cows & beds & furniture to make up the lagaces to those who have
not recieved a horse cow & calf & bed & furniture at the
death of my wife then my executor or Executors herein after named is to
make up the lagaces with money if (of) any and each legatee that has not
recieved a horse is to have fifty dollars in lieu there of and money in
lieu of a cow & calf and bed and
furniture to the amount of such cows & calves and beds &
furniture as have been recieved by my children above named if their be
no cows and calves -
11 If the
deed be not made to Nicholas L Bailey for the land I sold him lying in
Stewart County and state of Tennessee before my death it is my wish and
desire that my executor or Executors or any one of them to soon as
possible thereafter to make the Deed to said Bailey agreeable to the
title Bond I gave said Bailey 12 It is my wish and desire that my wife (if she should have more horses cows & beds than she shall want for her support and maintenace) to
give to such of my children as have not recieved a horse bed and
furniture and a cow and calf so soon as they become of age or marry a
horse or fifty dollars and a cow & calf & bed & furniture or then equivalent in money.
Lastly I appoint my wife Feriba Executrix and my son Thomas G Reece
Executor of this my last will and testament and it is my wish &
desire that they be not compelled to give security for their (forthful?)
execution of this my last will and testament As witness my hand & seal this 8 March 1837 James Reece (Seal)
